    Proper illumination is important in all construction activities.

    While work is in progress, construction areas, ramps, corridors, offices, shops, and storage areas, etc., shall be lighted to not less than the minimum illumination intensities detailed in Steps 3 and 4 below.

    Listed below are the Areas of Operation and it's corresponding Minimum illumination Intensities listed in Foot-Candles:

    -General construction area lighting low activity = 3 Foot-Candles

    -Outdoor active construction areas, concrete placement, excavation and waste areas, access ways, active storage areas, loading platforms, refueling, and field maintenance areas = 5 Foot-Candles

    -Indoors: warehouses, corridors, hallways, stairways, and exit-ways = 5 Foot-Candles

    -General construction plant and shops (e.g., batch plants, screening plants, mechanical and electrical equipment rooms, carpenter shops, rigging lofts and active storerooms, barracks or living quarters, locker or dressing rooms, mess halls and indoor toilets and workrooms) = 10 Foot-Candles

    -Nighttime highway construction work = 10 Foot-Candles

    -First-aid stations, infirmaries, and offices = 30 Foot-Candles
