  • Let's get gut-level honest. That's an important part of moving forward. Gut level. Honest.

    You can’t achieve your dreams, embark upon your destiny or showcase what's best about you without putting yourself out there.

  • Are you currently putting yourself out there?

    For example, are you doing any one of these: working, attending school, in a certificate program or involved in a volunteer project?

    The point is to get moving. Find a place for you to test your positive qualities to make them even more pronounced. The kind of activities listed above keep you from being tempted to go backwards.

  • Describe how you're doing in your current activities.

    You have a job?
    Do you show up on time and do what you're supposed to do without being asked? Do you talk respectfully to your boss and peers on the job? Can they rely on you at work?

    Or yes, you're attending school or a certificate program.
    If you're in school, are you going to every class on time, turning in your assignments when they're due and focusing hard on earning your diploma, certificate or degree?

    Volunteering? If so, are you showing up when you said you would and staying until the task is finished? Are you friendly and helpful? Does anyone else have to finish what you said you would do that day?
  • Today, share with a trusted friend, coach, relative, boss, teacher or mentor what you're doing to put yourself out there.

    Include what you're doing at school, work or a volunteer project. Be honest and let them know what you're doing that is good and what is not going so well.

    Ask them for insight that would help you.
  • Now take a deep breath, log off the net, walk right by the TV, ignore your cell phone, stop texting and get moving.
