Goal: this task will increase the confidence of the goal to feel respected (Worthy of Respect).
Next Step - JP published this Cognitive Task at isodoit.com under Societal | Foster Care and Education | Interpersonal and Social Skills
Doers: 4 | Form: Cognitive Task | Phase: | Type: Primary | Level: 1 | Code:
Start: Dec 06, 2019 | When: | Duration: 10 Minute(s)
Steps:
  • Let's continue building confidence. We could all use this lesson on a daily basis to keep us strong.

Today do something nice for a stranger without being weird doing it. Choose someone who, on the surface, has nothing in common with you.

The act could be as simple as opening the door for someone entering a building or helping them with their packages or holding the elevator door open. It could be letting someone go in front of you in a long line. You get the idea - pay it forward - with a genuine smile.

If they say, “Thank you”, respond with a polite, “You're welcome.”

If they don't respond, keep moving. It's not on you. It's on them. You gave them a blessing, and you planted the thought for them to do the same for someone else. You were respectful. Just focus on your part.

    Will you do this?
    response:
  • When?
    response:
  • Don't forget that big, captivating smile of yours. It just might make someone's day!

Message: This exercise is to be taken seriously. If you follow through, you'll advance a big step in believing you are worth being shown respect by yourself and others. If the task is too easy for you, then develop a Bold Move - a Courageous Action that is in the same spirit of decency as the exercise in Day 14. Next, do the Bold Move and report back in the 'my journal' section of your day plan.
