Step 1

Start today's session by going to the 'video' icon. The clip you'll see shows an unusual way a teacher was able to to help an insecure girl who was ready to quit.

Tell us what you thought about the interaction when you've finished.

Step 2

The scene from 'Mr. Holland's Opus' shows that your relationship with someone older and wiser can be very natural and informal.

You can have fun and learn some new ways around situations that once caused you frustration or embarrassment.

All you have to do is be alert to those people who could help you understand some things about life that you don't know yet.

Will you give it a try?

Step 3

Notice the people in your everyday world.

As you look around and notice people, keep in mind your list about the types of individuals you want to be part of your tight inner circle.

Along with skill sets, core values, shared interests and experiences, the list could include people in various roles.

* Former Foster Parent
* Pastor
* Youth Leader
* CASA or Guardian Ad Litem
* Neighbor
* Trusted Relative
* Former Principal
* Former Teacher
* Coach

You get the idea. Now run with it.

Just let if flow naturally. The goal in your conversations could be to get help in figuring out things that are confusing or frustrating to you.

The more time you spend together, the more wisdom and guidance will naturally spill out in the conversation.

How open are you in letting down your guard and having a conversation with someone from your previous list or the list above?

Step 4

Now make that call...or text...or email...or instant message...

Or just walk over to where they are.

Will you do this in the next 24 hours?
